We were on HMS Brother Ass, the sloop, sailing with Monkey, Piggy, Uncle Gismo et al. Of course we are Billy Buddy. If you see us here you will probably see a parrot, though I don’t know your eye salve.

A group of men in robes were sitting in the tiller way. We heard their names were St. Michael, Prince Oscar, Ramon Baron and Hector Troy, but you hear a lot of things. Another, Alexander the Great, was asking them what were the greatest books in the world.

“If you could fill one suitcase for the aeroplane, 50-pounds, what books would you keep? For your own satisfaction. To teach others. Of course they must have good English translations. Lead to other literature. Maybe three is enough. List them with some hierarchy.”

Hector looked at the others and said, “Well, of course, Alejandro, that list might still be changing as we learn more.”

“Yes, yes, oh, yes, yes,” murmured the others as tea and toast was served.

“Here is Monkey and Piggy’s list,” waved Alejandro with a determined glance as if he seemed to be laying out the Battle of Cannae
