www.jayarama.us/archives/hps-bio-nios.txt Academic Biography Hanumatpresaka Swami (Professor Huber Hutchin Robinson) rev. 2011 January 01 Currently Visiting Professor with the "Institute for Oriental and Occidental Classical Studies" (IECOO), Ricardo Palma University, Lima, Peru and General Secretary, NIOS (North American Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies), Tennessee, USA. Born 12 January 1948, Guam, Marianas Islands in the Pacific. Grew up in Southwest USA and graduated 1970 from the University of California first place in Psychology with minor studies in Biology and Electrical Engineering. Started Doctorate at Northwestern University in Psychology but was quickly convinced to look more broadly for deeper paradigms in psychology. This led to participation in the Second City, one of the three best improvisational theater companys in the USA; a Black Belt in Auto Ryu, Okinawan, Karate; and finally matriculation into Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami's (Prabhupada's) Bengali, Vaisnava-vedanta. In this line he advanced in austerity and knowledge as a Brahmacari (Novitiate Monk) from 1974, Sannyasin (Life Long Monk) from 1984 and Acharya (Professor) from 1994. Simultaneously he continued with his academic pursuits as a Director of the Bhaktivedanta Institute onto his current postions with IECOO and NIOS. This has involved lecturing all over the world from South and North America to Europe and Asia. He has repeatedly organized and presented at premier institutions with programs that have included Nobel Laureates such as Charles Townes, Sir John Eccles the Dalai Lama and others. He was Chief Guest at the landmark "National Seminar on Science and Technolgy in Ancient India" organized by Calcutta University in 2001. Currently he is still engaged in traveling, lecturing and consulting; but his emphasis has changed to writing in order to explain the intricacies of meditation and contemplation from the Bhagavata tradition necessary to the complete cultivation of the human spirit.
